We have long been amazed at what a poor deal Durham’s pedestrians get, so here is the first of a regular feature to showcase Durham’s best, and worst pavements! (And for any highway engineers present, yes, we know they ought to be referred to as footways.)
Here is a narrow pavement on Quarryheads Lane, by the bottom of Potters Bank. The playing field adjacent belongs to the Chorister School, part of the Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation. The hedge has gradually been getting worse over the years, but this summer part of it has gone into exceptional growth which is now completely obstructing the pavement. It has been like this for a few weeks now. We reported it to the school today. Keep an eye on the comments for updates.
